Fire in the sky
Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, Villiersdorp, SA
This part of the reserve is a favourite spot of mine, but time and again I misjudge the time the sun sets behind the mountains, almost an hour before the actual sunset.
I arrived here just in time to watch the sun set, but not enough time to set up my gear for a photo. So I decided to walk to this tree and make the most of the colours in the clouds that came with the actual sun setting.
This is a classical way to photograph a sunset with the foreground sillouetted against a colourfull sky. It is probably the easiest way to photograph a sunset as you can easily trust the camera to do all the work for you and still walk away with a stunning photo. Even a inexpensive camera will be able to get it right and make you look like a pro.
