About
Liesel Kershoff

I come from an artistic family where we were always encouraged to draw, but growing up in a small town (Caledon) had its disadvantages in such that I could never receive formal training in art, although I dearly wished to. I developed an interest in photography in my high school years, snapping away at anything and admiring photographs in magazines. Something burned deep inside me and I wished to be able to capture special moments on film.
Life swept me off on a two year sabbatical in Israel after school, where I picked cut-flowers from 5am till 9pm or 10pm or 11pm or 12pm or whenever the day's work was done, seven days a week. It was hard work, but it molded me into the hard worker that I am today. I traveled to Egypt and my passion for photography surfaced again in this beautiful country. I yearned to be able to capture on film what my eyes saw. I made a promise to return again one day to fulfill that dream.
I threw myself into establishing a life for myself after I returned home in 1995 and the photography took a back seat until 2004, when I could not ignore my spirit's cry to capture God's given beauty anymore.
I enrolled in a home based photography-course and struggled through it for almost 3 years, whenever I had the time. I sold my business, a fruit and veg shop, 10 years after starting it from scratch and decided to take the leap into the photography market in 2007.
Motivation:
I strive to capture perfect light: That few seconds in a day when nature becomes quiet and the sky lights up with colors. We so often miss these moments due to our busy lifestyles and we forget to lift our eyes to the sky and appreciate each new day.
I chase this light and capture them for you, but I am only the tool. The real masterpiece is a fleeting moment in time and it is all around you every day. Just look up.
